The 24-year-old Wilfred Ndidi, the midfielder will miss the Foxes’ games against Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Spartak Moscow, Brentford, and Brighton after being left out of Nigeria’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers over two legs.
He is likely to return for Leicester City’s home match against Arsenal on October 30.
Eagles coach Gernot Rohr said that Ndidi is out for a month due to a hamstring issue.
“He will be missed against Central Africa Republic, but we anticipate a strong return next month for the games against Liberia and Cape Verde.
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has confessed that no one in the City squad can immediately replace Ndidi but believes that summer recruit Boubakary Soumare has the attributes to flourish in a similar capacity.
“It’s impossible to find what we have,” Rodgers said of Ndidi’s absence.
“We’ve got good players, but specifically the job he (Ndidi) does in breaking up play and just his overall defending and in the box, he’s irreplaceable for us.
“We have a number of other good players, we just need to find a different way. That’s also part of the point, as I said earlier in the season, for bringing Soumare into the squad, because he gives us that physicality. But Wilf’s a unique and fabulous player.”
Kelechi Iheanacho, on the other hand, is back in contention after missing out in midweek due to a problem with his documents at the Polish border.
“He flew back,” Rodgers remarked of his striker. He’ll be fresh and ready to play against Crystal Palace this weekend.”
