NDE Commences 4-day Basic Business Training In FCT

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun basic business training for beneficiaries of its environpreneurship development scheme in FCT, Abuja. 

The director general of the NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, while addressing trainees during the flag-off of the training in FCT said the program was part of its countless poverty eradication initiatives geared towards providing employment opportunities to better the lives of people in the society and reduce poverty in the land. The director general of the NDE who was represented by Mrs. Anita Obetta of the NDE national headquarters said the 30 beneficiaries had been trained in the past by the agency on how to turn waste products in the environment into useful and money-making ventures, adding that the 4 days training is essential to expose the beneficiaries to basic knowledge of starting, financing and running business ventures from the skills acquired to make them financial independence and in turn create job opportunities for others. In the same vein the NDE- FCT state coordinator, Mr. Chimereze Noble said the main objective of the training is to orient the beneficiaries with the knowledge required to start, run and sustain a business successfully and charged beneficiaries not to take the opportunity for granted but should be committed to the training by ensuring that they pay rapt attention throughout the course of the training to benefit from the objective of the training to become successful entrepreneurs.

“Acquiring skills is good, but understanding how to set up a small business from the skills so acquired is what will improve the livelihoods of the beneficiaries and equally generate business and employment opportunities for others”, he noted. Also speaking the head of the department, Small Scale Enterprise (SSE) of the NDE-FCT Mrs. Grace Aondoakaa said the beneficiaries are expected to be exposed to various training modules ranging from Motivation for Entrepreneurs, Forms of Business and legal Responsibilities How to source for fund to start a business, Record Keeping, Costing of Product/Service, Marketing, Business Ethics, Purchasing and Stock Control, Causes, and Prevention of Business Failure, among others and encouraged them to be committed in a bid to increase their knowledge base which would gear towards enhancing economic sustenance. Appreciating the management of the NDE, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. Omotosho Ola Abiodun thanked the NDE for the rare opportunity given to them to change their lives and promised to make good use of the opportunity to better their lives.
