MSNBC announced Wednesday a sweeping rebrand and a new multi-year partnership with British broadcaster Sky News, aimed at bolstering its international coverage and positioning the network for the next phase of global news delivery.
Beginning October 1, Sky News’ expansive global reporting—powered by 11 international bureaus and a team of more than 500 journalists—will be integrated across all MSNBC platforms in the United States, the network confirmed.
The collaboration coincides with a significant transformation of the NBCUniversal-owned cable channel, which will rebrand as MS NOW (My Source News Opinion World) and retire its long-standing peacock logo, symbolizing a strategic departure from its legacy identity.
“In this moment of consequential and historic news events happening around the world that are rapidly reshaping our collective future, we are honored to bring Sky News’ premium, on-the-ground reporting and roster of top journalists to the MSNBC community,” said MSNBC President Rebecca Kutler in a statement.
The move is part of a broader overhaul by parent company Comcast, which is preparing to spin off several NBCUniversal cable networks—including MSNBC, CNBC, and USA Network—into a newly formed public entity called Versant. The spin-off marks a deliberate pivot toward greater flexibility in the streaming-first media environment.
As part of its reorganization, MS NOW has named veteran international journalist Ian Sherwood as Director of International Newsgathering. Sherwood brings extensive experience from prior roles at NBC News, BBC News, and Sky News, and is expected to help steer the network’s expanded global editorial vision.
The partnership with Sky News offers MS NOW access to high-caliber reporting from conflict zones, political flashpoints, and climate crisis regions—areas where demand for trusted international journalism is growing amid geopolitical uncertainty.
The rebrand comes at a time of shifting viewer habits and increasing competition in the 24-hour news market, with networks investing heavily in cross-platform presence and global reach.
With its refreshed identity and deepened partnership with Sky, MS NOW aims to redefine its voice in the international news landscape while reinforcing its role as a destination for both breaking news and opinion programming.
