Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has voiced his disappointment over the club’s failure to offer him a new contract, sparking speculation that he is more likely to leave than stay.
The 32-year-old, who leads Liverpool’s scoring charts this season with 12 goals in all competitions, is out of contract at the end of the season. His future at Anfield remains uncertain as negotiations appear stalled.
Salah played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s 3-2 victory over Southampton on Sunday, scoring twice, including a decisive penalty, to secure three points and extend Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points.
Speaking to reporters after the match at St Mary’s, the Egyptian star said, “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in.”
When asked if he was disappointed about the situation, Salah added, “Of course, yeah. I’m not retiring anytime soon, so I’m just focusing on playing, trying to win the Premier League and, hopefully, the Champions League. I’m disappointed, but we’ll see.”
Liverpool has not publicly commented on Salah’s remarks, but a club source told BBC Sport that discussions between the club and Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, are ongoing and have been positive.
Salah, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017, has become a cornerstone of the team’s success, contributing to their Premier League and Champions League triumphs. However, uncertainty surrounding his future leaves fans and the club in suspense as the season progresses.
