Max Air, a prominent Nigerian airline, has announced an indefinite suspension of its operations starting Friday, August 2, 2024, due to the ongoing hunger protests across the country.
This move makes Max Air the only airline to halt its services, while others have faced delays caused by low passenger turnout and flight postponements.
In a statement, Max Air explained that the decision was made with the safety and reliability of travel for its customers in mind. The airline stressed that passenger safety is its top priority.
“We regret to inform you that due to the general unrest in the country, we have temporarily suspended our domestic flight operations for August 2, 2024,” the statement read. “Please know that your safety remains our top priority, and this decision has been made in the interest of ensuring a secure and reliable travel experience.”
The airline also assured customers that its customer service team would remain accessible through social media channels, emails, and phone lines to provide assistance, updates, and answers to any inquiries during this period. Max Air apologized for any inconvenience the suspension may have caused, expressing regret for the disruption to its customers’ travel plans.
