Marco Odermatt Clinches Third Consecutive Alpine World Cup Title with Giant Slalom Win in California

Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt secured his third consecutive overall Alpine World Cup title by triumphing in Saturday’s giant slalom event in California.

His victory, which marks his 35th World Cup win, assures him of the title with 10 races still remaining in the season.

Despite facing tight competition, Odermatt expressed satisfaction with his performance, stating, “It was super tight, I didn’t have the best feeling on the skis but I knew that at the end in the last sector I could ski fast.”

Odermatt’s win in Palisades Tahoe also marks his 11th victory of the season, including an impressive streak of 10 consecutive giant slalom wins.

Marco Odermatt Secures Narrow Victory in Giant Slalom, Eyes Record-Breaking Overall Margin

Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt clinched a narrow victory in the giant slalom event with a combined time of two minutes 11.69 seconds, just edging out Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen by 12 hundredths of a second. River Radamus of the United States secured the third spot with a time of 2:13.06.

Odermatt’s win puts him in a position to potentially break the men’s record for the overall margin of victory, currently held by Austrian Hermann Maier at 743 points, set in 2001. Additionally, if Odermatt triumphs in the remaining four giant slalom events, he could achieve a historic clean sweep, a feat not accomplished since Swedish legend Ingemar Stenmark did so in the 1978-79 season.
