Foot-Mercato reports that Marcelo was offered to Lyon, but the French side, after carefully studying his signing, decided to reject the Brazilian due to his large salary. It was around nine million euros a year.
After putting an end to his long and historic 16-year career at Real Madrid, Marcelo is in search of a new club. At the age of 34 and with a large salary, it is very difficult finding a team who can pay for someone like the Brazilian left-back.
Marcelo gets around nine million euros a year, an amount which Lyon considers excessive, especially bearing in mind that he is now 34 and that he only made 18 appearances for Real Madrid last term. Just seven of those were as a starter.
Despite the fact he has several offers on the table, the former Fluminense player has still not found a new club after having spent all his life at Real Madrid. He made history thanks to his 546 competitive appearances.
