LP, NNPP Dismiss Reports Of Merger With PDP, Atiku

Both the Labour Party (LP) and the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have dismissed reports about any merger discussions with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
LP’s spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, stated in a Thursday release that such reports were merely sensational and should be disregarded by Nigerians.
He clarified that his response to a journalist’s inquiry emphasized the importance of making democracy work in Nigeria, pointing out that nowhere did the response mention a purported merger between LP and PDP.
Similarly, AbdulRazaq AbdulSalam, the National Publicity Secretary of NNPP, stated in a release that the NNPP is an independent political group, committed to respecting all political parties and refusing to engage in merging with any party to combat another.
