The Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Lagos, Ridhwan Jamiu, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize accountability and responsibility to the Nigerian people.
President Tinubu attended the Jumat prayer at the Lekki Central Mosque on Friday, marking his first public appearance since halting engagements following stampedes in parts of the country.
During his sermon, Imam Jamiu reminded Nigerians to express gratitude to Allah in times of fortune and remain patient during adversity. Acknowledging the President’s presence, the imam offered prayers for Tinubu’s success in fostering peace, security, and prosperity in Nigeria.
“We are proud of you. I remember that we encouraged people to vote for you during the campaigns. We thank God that you have not disappointed us,” Imam Jamiu remarked.
He praised the President’s competence, sagacity, and fairness, urging him to maintain these qualities in his leadership.
“Responsibility is to the people, and accountability is to Allah when you return to Him,” the imam emphasized.
Citing Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he added, “The most beloved of all people to Allah is the righteous and just leader. We have seen righteousness, fairness, and justice in you. Please keep it up and sustain it.”
The imam also highlighted the significance of the President’s name, Ahmed, which means “someone who does what is praiseworthy,” expressing hope that Tinubu’s actions will continue to reflect this virtue.
