Lagos to Close Roads Partially for Inauguration Ceremonies

The Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across key areas ahead of infrastructure project inaugurations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement on Tuesday, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the measures are aimed at ensuring safety and the smooth conduct of the events scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, April 8 and 9.

He advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and avoid affected routes to minimise traffic disruptions.

According to Osiyemi, the President will inaugurate the Opebi-Mende link bridge on Wednesday between 9am and 1pm, with traffic expected to be impacted around Opebi-Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota. Motorists were urged to use alternative routes during the period.

On Thursday, two events scheduled between 9am and 1pm—including the inauguration of the Tolu Schools Complex will affect traffic in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle.

The commissioner added that another event will take place later in the day between 4pm and 7pm at Eko Hotel and Victoria Island, warning motorists to avoid the area or expect delays.

He noted that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other traffic personnel will be deployed to manage vehicular movement.

Osiyemi urged residents to cooperate with traffic officials and comply with all directives throughout the period.
