The Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap announced that passport offices in Lagos will now operate on Saturdays to facilitate passport collection for Nigerians.
In a statement released on Friday by NIS spokesperson Kenneth Udo, Nandap revealed that 107,646 passports are awaiting collection.
Efforts to reach passport owners have been unsuccessful, prompting the NIS to open Lagos offices from 9am to 2pm on Saturdays specifically for passport collection. Applicants are advised to provide verifiable addresses and phone numbers on their online application forms for easier contact.
The CG directed all Lagos passport offices to implement this new schedule to ensure efficient distribution of the pending passports.
