Joe and Jill Biden to Give First Joint Interview Since Leaving White House on ‘The View’

Former President Joe Biden and former First Lady Jill Biden will make their first joint media appearance since leaving the White House on Thursday, joining ABC’s The View for a live in-studio interview. The segment will mark their most high-profile conversation since departing Washington in January following the Democratic Party’s defeat in the 2024 election.

The Bidens are expected to reflect on life after the presidency, the party’s challenges, and the current political climate as President Donald Trump surpasses the 100-day milestone of his second term.

Since leaving office, the Bidens have kept a low profile, with the former president gradually re-entering the public spotlight. In a recent speech in Chicago, Joe Biden criticized the Trump administration’s handling of Social Security and broader governance, accusing officials of causing “so much damage.”

In a BBC interview aired Wednesday, Biden sharply rebuked Trump’s foreign policy, comparing his proposed Ukraine peace deal—which involves territorial concessions to Russia—to “modern-day appeasement.” He also slammed Trump’s reported interest in acquiring territories like Canada and Greenland. “What president ever talks like that?” Biden said. “That’s not who we are.”

Trump has continued to assail Biden publicly, labeling him “the worst president in American history” and blaming him for economic volatility and sluggish GDP growth during his own administration.

Joe Biden’s long career in public service spanned over 50 years, including 36 years in the Senate and eight as vice president. Though his presidency ended amid controversy and criticism—particularly over his decision to seek reelection and later withdraw—Biden has remained firm in his belief that he could have defeated Trump a second time had he stayed in the race.

Ultimately, Biden stepped aside and endorsed then–Vice President Kamala Harris, saying his decision was aimed at uniting the Democratic Party heading into the 2026 midterms.
