Federal Authorities Investigate Interim NYPD Commissioner Thomas Donlon Amid Expanding Probe

Federal authorities have launched an investigation into Interim Police Commissioner Thomas Donlon, just days into his new role.

Donlon confirmed that agents executed search warrants at his home on Friday, seizing materials that he said have been in his possession for over 20 years. According to Donlon, these materials are unrelated to his work with the NYPD.

During his weekly Q&A session at City Hall on Tuesday, Mayor Eric Adams expressed frustration as he continued to face repeated questions about the ongoing federal investigations.

“We know what you know,” Adams said. “I’m not going back and forth on questions I’ve answered repeatedly.”

While Adams feels his accomplishments are being overshadowed, the ongoing investigations have shaken his administration. His chief counsel resigned, stating she could no longer defend him, and the police commissioner stepped down after subpoenas were served to him, along with the schools chancellor, two deputy mayors, a key adviser, and a private consultant, among others.

The probes are reportedly focused on the NYPD’s nightlife enforcement and potential influence peddling related to city contracts.
