Insecurity Will End When Sponsors Are Arrested—Adeyeye

Dayo Adeyeye, a politician and lawyer, has said Nigeria’s insecurity will subside once those sponsoring banditry, kidnappings and other violent crimes are identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

Adeyeye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Ports Authority, alleged that some disgruntled Nigerians are behind the rising wave of violence, claiming they are attempting to discredit Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election.

The former Minister of State for Works made the remarks while delivering a lecture titled “Mentorship: A Tool for Fostering Progressive Democracy” at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile‑Ife, Osun State.

The event also saw him receive the Faculty of Administration’s Lifetime Leadership Achievement Award as part of activities marking the Second Faculty of Administration Week and Mentorship Programme.

“The recent violence and kidnappings in the country is being sponsored and orchestrated by some group of people who want to discredit this government and who probably are afraid that President Bola Tinubu is going to have an easy way in 2027,” Adeyeye said.

He described the security challenge as unusual but expressed confidence that the President is addressing it with urgency.

“It is not ordinary, but I can assure you that at the moment, President Bola Tinubu is taking the situation very seriously,” he said.

Adeyeye added that the violence could ultimately backfire on those responsible, noting that the President has introduced strong security measures capable of tackling the crisis if fully implemented.

“To me, the whole security situation will backfire because the president has rolled out very serious security emergency programmes, which I believe if properly implemented with more boots on the ground, with more ammunition, with states having their own police, this problem would be solved and we will put it behind us once and for all,” he added.
