In a significant event at the new Olubadan palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan North Local Government Area, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, officially received the Ibadan beaded crown from the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin Ige Olakulehin 1.
The ceremony, which took place on Monday, was attended by a host of dignitaries, including Oyo State Deputy Governor, Abdul Raheem Adebayo Lawal.
Initially, Ladoja had expressed his reluctance to accept the beaded crown. However, on Monday, he accepted the honor, marking a pivotal moment in Ibadan’s traditional leadership. The event also saw the presence of the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Muhammad Abiodun Fadeyi, alongside other traditional rulers, political figures, and well-wishers who gathered to witness the historic occasion.
In his address, Deputy Governor Lawal praised the people of Ibadan for this important milestone, highlighting the Oyo State government’s commitment to elevating the traditional institution to a model status within the country.
Ladoja, reflecting on the unity among the people of Ibadan, remarked, “They said we should do it the way it is supposed to be done. Ibadan is capable of doing its own thing. We have ways of doing our things. Once we enter the inner chamber, you must realise that things will change. All the problems are a result of misunderstanding.”
This event underscores the enduring traditions and the ability of the Ibadan people to resolve their differences, showcasing their unique cultural heritage.
