Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has formally declared his ambition to contest for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The announcement was made by Suleiman Musa Nagogo, Director-General of the State Bureau for Pension Administration, during a meeting with All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Wamba Local Government Area on Tuesday.
Nagogo said Governor Sule had personally informed him of his decision, describing it as a “project that begins at home.”
“That important message is to inform them that he is desirous of contesting for the office of Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2027,” Nagogo stated.
He also revealed that a committee has been formed to begin grassroots mobilization across the senatorial zone. Though still in its early stages, the plan was shared first with Wamba, regarded as the governor’s adopted political base.
Nagogo urged Wamba residents to unite behind the governor’s bid, praising Sule’s leadership, achievements, and understanding of local political dynamics.
“In terms of capacity, wherewithal, and understanding of Nasarawa North politics, Governor Abdullahi Sule is second to none,” he said.
He highlighted Sule’s developmental achievements, including infrastructural upgrades in Lafia, progressive agricultural reforms, and notable success in the solid minerals sector.
“In terms of solid minerals, Governor Abdullahi Sule has made Nasarawa a pacesetter,” Nagogo added, calling the senatorial ambition “the project of the Wamba people.”
