Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has dispelled rumors about his alleged intentions to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to his close relationship with Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
During a media session in Uyo as part of Akwa Ibom’s 37th-anniversary celebrations, Eno clarified that while he respects Akpabio as the Senate president, their collaboration is strictly for the state’s development. He urged citizens to distinguish between party loyalty and governance.
“The first thing we gain from this relationship is the peace we’re enjoying,” Eno said. He reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP, asserting, “I am a PDP person, and I am working for PDP. We will continue to support the party, especially with elections approaching.”
Eno emphasized that his administration is delivering development across all local governments and asked voters to compare the PDP’s performance with that of others. He also noted that he prefers quiet leadership to making noise or engaging in political fights that could destabilize the state.
While he respects Akpabio, Eno assured that disagreements on party matters don’t affect governance. He stressed his focus on maintaining a peaceful, productive relationship for the benefit of Akwa Ibom.
