The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, with immediate effect.
Ganduje, a former two-term governor of Kano State, formally stepped down on Friday, citing pressing health and personal reasons.
In a statement released Friday night, Felix Morka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, announced that Ganduje’s resignation letter was submitted to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru.
Following the development, the party has directed Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori, to step in as acting national chairman until a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for December.
Morka praised Ganduje’s leadership, noting his contributions to party unity, democratic consolidation, and electoral growth. He also cited the successful integration of defectors from opposition parties and strengthened party cohesion as key milestones achieved during Ganduje’s tenure.
“The confidence reposed in him by the party’s NEC and national caucus in February 2025 was a testament to his commitment and record of service,” Morka said.
Ganduje assumed the role of APC national chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu. His exit comes amid ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
