Former Nigerian Minister Arrested For Alleged Involvement In A N22bn Fraud

A former minister of power, Sale Mamman, has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for his suspected involvement in a N22 billion fraud.
Mamman, who served as a minister for President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was detained in the anti-graft agency’s Abuja headquarters after being nabbed in the early hours on Wednesday, according to the Cable.
Investigations into alleged misconduct in the management of various power projects are related to the arrest.
The former minister was charged with conspiring with staff of the ministry in charge of the accounts of  Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to embezzle N22 billion and divide among themselves.
The investigations uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas allegedly linked to the suspects, while millions of naira and dollars have reportedly been recovered.
