Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Sean Dyche after just 114 days in charge, following Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at home to Premier League bottom club Wolves.
The club confirmed the decision in a statement:
“Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach. We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their efforts during their time at the club and we wish them the best of luck for the future. We will be making no further comment at this time.”
Dyche, 54, was Forest’s third manager this season. He succeeded Ange Postecoglou in October, who had earlier replaced Nuno Espirito Santo after the Portuguese tactician was dismissed early in the campaign.
Despite signing a contract until the summer of 2027, Dyche’s tenure ended abruptly after Forest failed to score from 35 shots in the stalemate against Wolves. The result left the club in 17th place, just three points above the Premier League relegation zone with 12 matches remaining.
The decision marks another bold move by club owner Evangelos Marinakis, as Forest now search for their fourth manager of the season in a bid to avoid relegation.
The situation represents a dramatic downturn for a side that finished seventh in the Premier League under Espirito Santo last season, narrowly missing out on a Champions League place but securing European football for the first time since 1995-96.
With their form deteriorating and relegation fears mounting, Forest face a critical period in the season. Whether the next manager can steady the ship and preserve their Premier League status remains to be seen.
