Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved an increase in the monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000 as part of renewed efforts to boost youth welfare and development.
The governor made the announcement on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
Addressing the corps members while dressed in full NYSC regalia, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for youth empowerment.
“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members. This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you,” he said.
Fintiri also revealed that plans were underway for the construction of a new NYSC orientation camp in the state, noting that professionals had already been engaged and that corps members with relevant qualifications in architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying would be involved in the supervision process.
He charged the corps members to remain disciplined, embrace meaningful community development projects, and contribute actively to the government’s education initiatives during their service year.
“As bonafide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, Barrister Wali Yakubu, Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in Adamawa, urged corps members to take the orientation exercise seriously, adhere to camp rules, and take advantage of skill acquisition programs to enhance their post-service prospects.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Osoro Caroline, commended the governor for his visionary leadership, describing the allowance increase as a testament to his commitment to youth empowerment.
The event also featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and the presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
