FG Reassures Nigerians Of Lifting Twitter Ban

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on Wednesday, said that the FG is “exceptionally close” to lifting the more than 100-day ban on the microblogging platform, Twitter. 
The Minister confirmed it towards the finish of Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting directed by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Its been over 100 days since the Buhari-led administration restricted Twitter in Nigeria for erasing the President’s notorious tweet on the Indigenous People of Biafra.
The public authority had additionally said on August 11 that “the ban will be lifted soon”.
Mohammed, who was approached to give a report on the ban and continuous arrangements with Twitter said, “The end for a peaceful resolution is nearly in sight. We like the persistence of Nigerians. I want to assure you that we have made colossal headway. We have met with Twitter both physically and in writing. We are almost there.
“The engagement has been extremely positive without any animosity. We have made it clear what we want from Twitter.
“I want to assure you that between the time that Twitter operation has been suspended, and when it will be restored is by far, much, much shorter. If the operation has been suspended for about 100 days now, I can tell you that we’re just actually talking about a few, just a few more days now.”
