In a move to protect its dwindling elephant population, the Federal Government took decisive action by destroying 2.5 tons of confiscated elephant tusks, estimated to be worth over $11.2 million (9.9 billion Naira).
The tusks, seized from wildlife traffickers, were gathered and subsequently destroyed in Abuja, Nigeria, on January 09, 2024.
This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to combat illegal wildlife trade and preserve the endangered elephant species.
