Federal Government to Establish 24 Skills and Innovation Hubs Nationwide

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to establishing 24 skills and innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centers across Nigeria.
This announcement was made by President Tinubu during the Children’s Day celebration in Abuja, themed “Enhancing the Total Wellbeing of the Nigerian Child through Quality Education and Skills Development.”
Represented by the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s dedication to the well-being and development of Nigerian children. He highlighted several transformative policies aimed at creating a conducive learning environment across the country.
These include the establishment of the National Education Data System, the approval of skill development initiatives for all education levels, and the training of teachers in digital skills.
“The government is committed to establishing 24 skills and innovation hubs and entrepreneurship centers nationwide,” Tinubu stated. He also mentioned plans to inaugurate private sector Innovation Enterprise Centers to support the government’s skills acquisition programs.
Additionally, 91 vocational centers are being constructed in secondary schools to ensure that all education levels benefit from these policies.
Collaborations with State Commissioners of Women Affairs, State Ministries of Education, State Universal Basic Education Boards, and Civil Society Organizations are underway to ensure quality education and skills development for Nigerian children.
Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, assured children that their rights would be protected. “When it comes to fighting for your rights, I shall always be there for you because Mr. President said the poor shall breathe, and the children are one of the vulnerable,” she said.
Mrs. Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi, Mandate Secretary of the Women Affairs Secretariat, FCT Administration, added that under the leadership of Nyesom Wike, efforts are being made to ensure that every child in the FCT has access to quality education and skills development to help them excel in life.
