Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has been formally inaugurated as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
The inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday in Abuja, just weeks after Ganduje stepped down as APC national chairman, citing personal reasons. His appointment as FAAN board chair was approved by President Bola Tinubu in January 2025.
A video of the event was shared by Gbenga Saka, Special Adviser on Digital Media to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirming the development.
Ganduje, who served as Governor of Kano State from 2015 to 2023, took over the APC chairmanship in August 2023, succeeding Senator Abdullahi Adamu. However, his time in office was short-lived amid internal party tensions and mounting pressure for his resignation.
In a statement issued at the time, APC spokesperson Felix Morka announced:
“His resignation, which is effective immediately, was offered to enable him to attend to urgent and important personal matters.”
Ganduje’s resignation letter was addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) through the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, in which he thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the ruling party.
In the aftermath, the APC named Ali Dalori as interim leader, pending a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to select a permanent replacement.
As FAAN Board Chairman, Ganduje now assumes a strategic role in Nigeria’s aviation industry at a time the government is ramping up efforts to modernize airport infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and strengthen regulatory oversight across the sector.
