Liverpool were defeated 3-2 by West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, denying them the chance to narrow the gap on Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
The Reds had gone undefeated in their previous 25 games in all competitions, but David Moyes’ side prevailed in a five-goal thriller, effectively ending their spotless start to the season.
West Ham are now third in the Premier League, just three points behind league leaders Chelsea, after this famous victory over Liverpool.
The Hammers took the lead in the match on Sunday after Alisson was credited with an own goal after flapping at a ball from a corner kick after only four minutes.
Liverpool drew level in the 41st minute thanks to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s spectacular free-kick from 20 yards.
After the break, West Ham improved significantly and were rewarded when Pablo Fornals put them back in lead after 67 minutes.
Liverpool’s poor luck continued when Kourt Zouma rose highest at the far post to head in to make it 3-1 in the 74th minute, exposing their corner kick weaknesses once more.
With little over ten minutes to go, Divock Origi, who came off the bench, halved the score to make it a tense finish at the London Stadium.
But the Hammers held on, and the home crowd screamed as their team claimed yet another remarkable victory.
Earlier in the day, Watford’s Emmanuel Dennis returned to action and was named in the starting lineup against Arsenal after serving a one-game suspension.
Dennis played 74 minutes before being substituted, while international teammate William Troost-Ekong sat on the bench the entire game as Arsenal claimed a 1-0 victory.
Alex Iwobi was also relegated to the bench for 90 minutes at Goodison Park as Everton were held to a goalless draw by Tottenham Hotspur.
Meanwhile, Leicester City drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Elland Road, with Wilfred Ndidi making his first Premier League start since September 25.
Kelechi Iheanacho sat on the sidelines for the entire game.
