Emirates Airlines Resumes Flights to Nigeria After Two-Year Hiatus

Emirates Airlines, the UAE’s national carrier, resumed operations in Nigeria on Tuesday, October 1, with a flight landing at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammad International Airport (MMIA). This return comes two years after the airline suspended flights due to unresolved issues, including trapped funds.

The resumption followed successful diplomatic efforts by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, who visited the UAE to resolve the outstanding concerns, paving the way for Emirates’ return. Flight EK 783 arrived at the old terminal of MMIA at 3:32 pm. Although the exact number of passengers wasn’t disclosed, passengers mentioned that many seats were empty, which is expected for a first flight after a long suspension.

While departing passengers were processed at the new terminal, the arriving passengers disembarked at the old terminal. The Boeing 777-300er, which operated the flight, has a capacity of 392 passengers.
