Dodgers World Series Celebration in Downtown LA Turns Chaotic as Fans Clash with Police

Baseball fans celebrating the Dodgers’ World Series win in downtown Los Angeles clashed with police, throwing projectiles and fireworks at officers trying to disperse the crowd, according to the LAPD.

The group, which had gathered near 9th and Flower streets, was declared an unlawful assembly late Wednesday night. Police instructed the crowd to leave the area immediately, urging them to follow officers’ orders. As police began dispersal efforts, the crowd moved east toward 8th Street, with some individuals throwing various objects at officers, the LAPD reported.

Extra police resources were sent to the area around Olympic and Grand after projectiles were hurled at officers. The department warned anyone near the intersection to vacate immediately.

Earlier, Mayor Karen Bass had cautioned that “violence will not be tolerated” as the city celebrated the Dodgers’ victory over the Yankees. She confirmed that the LAPD was on tactical alert, implementing a strategic plan that included additional deployment and collaboration with regional partners to ensure safe celebrations for all residents.
