With a victory over Taylor Fritz in straight set at the US Open, Novak Djokovic reaches a record-breaking 47th men’s Grand Slam semifinal.
The 36-year-old Serb won 6-1 6-4 6-4 at Arthur Ashe Stadium to advance in his pursuit for a record-tying 24th Grand Slam victory.
The three-time champion will tomorrow compete against home favorite Ben Shelton.
After defeating Frances Tiafoe, Shelton, as opposed to Djokovic, will play in his first Grand Slam semifinal.
With his 13th consecutive win, Djokovic preserved his pristine record in the US Open quarterfinals, passing Roger Federer for the most Grand Slam men’s semifinal appearances.
