Disney has announced the arrival of a new Lion King attraction at its Paris resort, offering visitors an immersive journey through the African savanna with beloved characters like Mufasa, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, according to theme park chief Josh D’Amaro.
During the D23 convention on Saturday, mock-ups of the experience were revealed, featuring a log flume ride descending Pride Rock under the watchful eye of Rafiki the monkey.
This announcement follows Disney’s recent report of weaker-than-expected theme park results for the quarter ending in June. Speculation about a Lion King-themed experience at Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallée has been circulating since 2022.
Last year, Disney unveiled plans to invest $60 billion (£47 billion) over the next decade to expand its theme park and cruise businesses, doubling its previous decade’s investment and generating significant excitement among fans.
The Lion King-themed land is set to debut after the launch of World of Frozen, a Frozen franchise-themed area slated for 2026 in Paris. Both new attractions will be part of the Walt Disney Studios Park, which will be renamed Disney Adventure World to reflect its expanded offerings.
