Director Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Los Angeles Home

Director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer, were found dead Sunday at their home in Los Angeles, according to a statement released by their family.

Senior law enforcement sources said that the couple was stabbed to death inside their residence in the Brentwood neighborhood. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the case as an apparent homicide.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,” the family said in a statement. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”

During a press conference Sunday night, officials said no suspect has been identified and no arrests have been made.

Police were called to the home at approximately 3:40 p.m. PT, the LAPD said. Senior members of the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division responded to the scene.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement mourning Reiner’s death, calling it “a devastating loss for our city and our country.”

“Rob Reiner’s contributions reverberate throughout American culture and society,” Bass said. “He improved countless lives through his creative work and his advocacy for social and economic justice.”

Reiner was a celebrated director, producer and actor whose career spanned decades. His work included iconic films such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men, among many others.

The investigation remains ongoing.
