Defiant Protesters took to the streets in Kano, Defy Curfew

Kano Youths disregarded  curfew as they took to the streets, carrying placards demanding the restoration of the fuel subsidy and the reopening of borders.

Protests erupted in the Minjibir local government and Rimin Kebe area of Kano State on Friday as residents took to the streets to voice their frustrations over hunger and economic hardship in the country.

The demonstrations began shortly after Friday prayers, with hundreds of youths carrying banners and chanting slogans. Their demands included the restoration of the fuel subsidy and the reopening of borders, among other issues.

Defying a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government, protesters held placards with messages such as “End Bad Governance,” “We are Hungry,” “Justice for Masses,” and “We are Looking for a Change.”

In the Minjibir local government area, located about 50 kilometers from the city center, demonstrators marched to the local government secretariat to express their grievances.

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf recently announced the curfew following a nationwide protest that had turned violent, with hoodlums looting and setting fire to both private and public properties in the state.
