Defense Minister Badaru Abubakar has directed the troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to swiftly apprehend notorious bandit leader Bello Turji Kachalla, known simply as Turji. The order was issued during his visit to Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, where he addressed soldiers at the One Brigade Headquarters.
During his visit, Abubakar was welcomed by Major General Oluyinka Soyele, the Commander of the Joint Taskforce Northwest Operation Fansar Yamma, and Zamfara State’s Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni.
The minister relayed President Bola Tinubu’s commendation for the troops’ efforts in combating banditry in the region over the past few months. “President Bola Tinubu has recognized some level of improvement in the operation against terrorists in the region over the last few months,” he stated.
He further noted, “President Tinubu has asked me to thank you and to also encourage you to do more in ending insecurity in these operational areas. He is ready to supply everything you need to eliminate insecurity in the Northwest and across Nigeria.”
Abubakar rallied the troops, asking, “Are you ready to finish them off? Are you ready to end banditry in this country?” He concluded with a firm request: “Please get me Turji, dead or alive.”
Turji is infamously known for his involvement in a range of criminal activities, including kidnapping, arson, shooting, rape, cattle rustling, and looting, making him a significant target for security forces in Nigeria’s northwestern region.
