Security Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to ensuring a secure and safe nation.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message to frontline troops and Muslim faithful, General Musa emphasized the importance of loyalty and dedication, drawing parallels to the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
“There is no doubt that the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim has been a reference point for loyalty and dedication to Almighty Allah for generations,” General Musa stated. He highlighted that the AFN’s dedication to democratic principles and loyalty to constituted authority remains steadfast, especially as Nigeria recently celebrated 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.
General Musa expressed his belief that both Nigerians and members of the Armed Forces will continue to embody the lessons of sacrifice exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim. He assured that the AFN is committed to restoring peace and security in Nigeria and its surrounding regions.
Reiterating the AFN’s constitutional mandate to protect the nation from both external and internal threats, General Musa stated, “We have been diligently committed to this despite all odds.” He emphasized the use of both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches in their efforts to ensure the safety of every Nigerian, and he called on all citizens to embrace peace, unity, and love.
“The labour of our past and present heroes must indeed not be in vain,” he said. He further stressed the importance of public support for the AFN, noting that the Armed Forces belong to all Nigerians and play a crucial role in guaranteeing the country’s future.
General Musa also expressed gratitude to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his unwavering support in ensuring that the AFN remains the pride of the nation.
