Former President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting President Bola Tinubu, as his administration marks its second year in office.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari congratulated Tinubu on reaching the midterm milestone, emphasizing that leadership is a continuous journey and that meaningful reforms take time to yield results.
“Reforms would achieve success gradually, not overnight,” Buhari said, calling on Nigerians to stand firmly behind the Tinubu-led APC government. He warned that crucial policy changes should not be derailed by political distractions.
He expressed support for the administration’s ongoing efforts to tackle poverty and inflation, noting that these issues have disproportionately impacted the nation’s poorest citizens.
“The private sector and all of us as citizens must join in all ways we can,” Buhari said, stressing that nation-building is a collective responsibility.
Encouraging optimism about Nigeria’s future, Buhari advised citizens to temper their expectations. “Our expectations from our governments should not get heavy,” he added.
He concluded with a warm message to the president: “I am wishing President Tinubu heartfelt congratulations on his two years in office. May you keep leading with wisdom and care.”
