The Nigerian president forwarded Aisha Ahmed and Edward Adamu’s names to the Senate for confirmation.
Buhari is asking lawmakers to confirm the nominees to serve as deputy governors at the apex bank for a second and final term, according to a letter read on the floor during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
Meanwhile, President Buhari has asked the Upper Chamber to confirm Ambassador Ayuba Jacob’s appointment to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Aisha is the current CBN Deputy Governor. She was first confirmed for the position in 2018 following a senate screening.
“As Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, she is responsible for leading the effort to promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; one of the principal objects of the Bank as specified within the CBN Act,” the CBN wrote about her.
Aisha was the Executive Director of Retail Banking at Diamond Bank PLC prior to her appointment as deputy governor, and she has 22 years of experience as a corporate executive and finance expert.
Mr Adamu, on the other hand, is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State, where he earned a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and the Institute of Credit Administration.
He was appointed as CBN deputy governor for the first time in 2018, but he began his career with the Unified Public Service (UPS) in 1983. He has worked for the apex bank for 25 years.
