Buhari Bemoans The Death Of 45 People In Borno Killed By Boko Haram

In Rann, Kala/Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, near the Cameroonian border, members of the Boko Haram terrorist group are said to have slain about 45 farmers.

This comes after 12 people were killed on Tuesday in Gakurdi village, Jibia Local Government Area, Katsina State.

On Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari stated that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.

According to security sources and Zainab Gimba, a member of the House of Representatives for the Bama/Ngala/Kala Balge constituency, 45 farmers were massacred on their farmlands on Sunday.

According to security sources and Zainab Gimba, a member of the House of Representatives for the Bama/Ngala/Kala Balge constituency, 45 farmers were massacred on their farmlands on Sunday.

Gimba, who confirmed the killing, claimed hundreds of the attackers arrived on motorbikes, and that corpses were still being found on the farms.

“Large numbers of the terrorists armed with guns and machetes encircled the farmers and held them, hostage, before executing them one by one. The search for the bodies continues,” she stated.

Meanwhile, according to a statement issued by the Borno State Governor’s spokesman, Isa Gusau, 32 people were killed by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists last weekend in Mudu village in the Kala-Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.

Six people were injured, according to the statement, while two people were unharmed.

The statement read in part, “Governor Zulum is very disturbed by the unfortunate killing of fellow citizens at the weekend. Pending a full report, the governor was briefed by the Majority Leader of Borno State House of Assembly, Mohammed Dige, who represents Kala-Balge where the victims hailed from.

“From the lawmaker’s briefing, a total of 32 youths are believed to have been killed by the insurgents. The youth were not farmers but highly enterprising young men engaged in gathering metals popularly called ‘Kayan Ajaokuta’, which are sold as raw materials for steel production.”

Buhari, on Wednesday, said the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

His position was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled ‘President Buhari mourns Borno, Katsina victims of terror.’

On Wednesday, Buhari stated that the perpetrators will be prosecuted.
