Bishop T.D. Jakes is in stable condition following a medical emergency that occurred during his sermon on Sunday, according to the Potter’s House of Dallas, the megachurch where he serves as pastor.
Video footage from the service shows the prominent Christian leader lowering his microphone and visibly shaking while seated, prompting those nearby to rush to his aid.
In a statement, the church said Jakes “experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message.”
“Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the statement continued. “The entire Potter’s House family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”
Jakes, a renowned pastor and author, founded the 30,000-member Potter’s House in southern Dallas, Texas, in 1996.
