The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has announced that Nigerian airlines will exclusively source jet fuel from Dangote Petroleum Refinery. This initiative coincides with the refinery’s launch of jet fuel production for the domestic market.
In an appearance on Channels Television’s “Political Paradigm” program, Keyamo emphasized that this decision signifies a major shift in the aviation sector, as the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) have collectively agreed to stop importing jet fuel. This move aims to enhance local production and support the Nigerian economy.
He stated, “This development aligns perfectly with the Dangote refinery beginning its jet A1 production for our local industry.” Keyamo added, “The airline operators have recently convened and made a unanimous decision to cease purchasing imported fuel in favor of supporting the local industry through Dangote refinery. This is a collective agreement backed by my support.”
This commitment is expected to decrease reliance on imported jet fuel and promote growth in Nigeria’s aviation and fuel production sectors.
