Arsenal have secured a place at Wembley after defeating Chelsea 1–0 at the Emirates Stadium in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, sealing a 4–2 aggregate victory and booking a spot in the final.
Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal on Tuesday night as the Gunners completed the job following their first-leg win, reaching the League Cup final for the first time in eight years. The victory ended a frustrating run for Arsenal, who had previously lost their last four semi-finals across competitions, including the 2025 Champions League and League Cup, the 2022 League Cup, and the 2021 Europa League.
The result sets up a Wembley showdown on March 22, where Arsenal will face either Manchester City or Newcastle United. City hold a 2–0 advantage heading into their semi-final second leg against Newcastle, scheduled to be played later tonight, giving Pep Guardiola’s side the upper hand as they chase silverware this season.
Arsenal’s qualification comes amid an impressive run of form, with the North London side widely regarded as one of the strongest teams in world football at the moment. Their only recent home defeat came against Manchester United in a thrilling 3–2 Premier League encounter. The Gunners continue to lead the Premier League, while Manchester City have struggled for consistency this season, a situation that has affected their domestic and European campaigns.
Newcastle, however, will be determined to overturn the deficit against City as the League Cup remains one of their best opportunities to secure a trophy this season. Still, with City’s first-leg advantage and Arsenal’s current dominance, a potential Arsenal vs Manchester City final at Wembley now appears firmly on the cards.
