Army Chief Assures Nigerians of Improved Security After Meeting Tinubu

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has assured Nigerians of improved security across the country following his meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting on Tuesday, Shaibu said his visit was to brief the President on his recent tour of the North-East and to review the overall security situation nationwide.

The visit marks his first official appearance at the Presidential Villa since his appointment as Army Chief on October 30.

Shaibu, who earlier visited Maiduguri to meet with troops of Operation Hadin Kai and the Joint Task Force North-East, said discussions with the President focused on strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture and sustaining gains in counterterrorism operations.

“I just came to brief Mr. President on the outcome of my visit to the North-East region and to look at other security situations across the country, which have been satisfactory within this period,” he stated.

Since assuming office, the Army Chief has placed emphasis on professionalism, troop welfare, and inter-agency collaboration as part of efforts to consolidate peace and stability across the nation.
