The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended former governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, alongside party chieftain Hon. Kunle Folarin, over alleged anti-party activities.

The suspensions were ratified by the State Working Committee (SWC) at a meeting on August 19, chaired by Chief Yemi Sanusi with 16 members present. The decision followed recommendations from disciplinary panels set up by Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area, where both Daniel and Folarin are from.

According to a statement signed by the APC Director of Publicity, Nuberu Olufemi, the duo were summoned to appear before the committees or submit written defences but failed to comply. Their absence, the party noted, forced the panels to rely on witness testimonies and documentary evidence.

The APC further alleged that Daniel and Folarin attempted to obstruct the process by intimidating members and pressuring them to withdraw petitions against them.

After reviewing the findings, the SWC endorsed their indefinite suspension, stressing that the move was necessary to safeguard discipline and uphold the party’s constitution.
