Adele Announces Extended Hiatus After Las Vegas Residency: “I Need a Rest”

Adele announced during her concert in Munich on Saturday that she plans to take a lengthy “break” after her Las Vegas residency concludes in November. According to video footage from the show, the Grammy-winning artist expressed her desire to enjoy the new life she has built over the past seven years. “I want to live the new life that I have been building,” Adele said, her voice breaking with emotion, adding that she might not perform again “for an incredibly long time.”

Adele’s personal and professional life has been full of changes in recent years. In 2019, she separated from Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a child, and since 2021, she has been in a relationship with sports agent Rich Paul. The couple has been private about their relationship status, despite rumors of an engagement.

The Munich concert marked the end of her 10-show residency in the city. Adele’s Las Vegas residency, “Weekends with Adele,” which began in January 2022, will conclude on November 23 after the remaining 10 shows in October. During the Munich show, she thanked her fans for their support over the past three years, during which she performed songs from her latest album, “30.”

“It has been amazing, I just need a rest,” she told the crowd. Adele has a history of taking extended breaks from the spotlight between album releases, often stepping away to focus on her personal life and recovery from vocal surgery in 2011.

In a July interview with German broadcaster ZDF, she hinted that she would soon be stepping back from touring to explore other creative pursuits.
