Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider his administration’s approach to tackling poverty and hardship across Nigeria.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, Nwosu expressed concerns about the lack of clarity in President Tinubu’s vision, noting that many Nigerians are struggling to understand the government’s objectives. “All the president has been doing since assuming office is ‘dominating the space of power,’” Nwosu remarked.
He continued, “If the President, as number one, defined his vision, then we would understand and could advise him. But if his ambition is to install his men and endanger the poor, it will one day turn Nigeria into a banana republic.”
Nwosu also questioned the so-called Renewed Hope Agenda, posing the question: “What is renewed hope in? Poverty, infrastructural decay, corruption? Adding more private jets while our foreign debts remain unpaid? Where is the hope? It’s a parochial renewed hope. The President and his men are dancing to a very dangerous tune.”
Nwosu’s remarks highlight a growing dissatisfaction among some political leaders regarding the direction of Tinubu’s administration and its impact on the everyday lives of Nigerians.
