Adamawa State Takes Measures To Safely Transition Girls To Tertiary Education

The Adamawa State government is prioritizing the education of the girl child and actively working to ensure a secure and confident transition to tertiary-level education. Dr. Umar Garba Pella, the Commissioner for Education, revealed this commitment during the annual unity get-together, “Ngalbi 2023,” held at Ngalbi Primary School in Hong Local Government Area. The event aimed to unite the Hoba Development Association and foster peaceful coexistence.
Pella emphasized the government’s vision to implement policies transforming the education sector, focusing on enhancing school systems, access, retention, and specifically facilitating the transition of the girl child from secondary school to tertiary institutions. Recognizing the challenges faced by the girl child during this transition, the government has developed a robust plan to ensure their confidence and safety.
The Commissioner highlighted the government’s target to enhance school infrastructure, striving to ensure that every child has access to a desk, classroom, teacher, and instructional materials.
Adamawa State’s significant investment in the social sector has yielded positive results, propelling the state from being among the bottom five performers nationally to ranking among the top five.
In the recent release of NECO results, Adamawa State emerged as the second-best performing state in the country and the foremost in Northern Nigeria.
