Following the tragic demise of former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, Access Holdings Plc has appointed Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment, subject to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s approval, was confirmed by the company’s Board of Directors in a statement dated February 12, 2024.
“Further to its announcement dated February 11, 2024, the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc (‘the Company’) has today announced the appointment of Ms Bolaji Agbede as the Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of the Company following the unfortunate demise of its former Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr Herbert Wigwe, on February 9, 2024.
“The appointment is subject to the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
Agbede, a seasoned professional with nearly thirty years of experience in banking and business consultancy services, previously served in various capacities at Access Bank since joining in 2003.
Having held roles such as Head of Group Human Resources and founding Executive Director of Business Support, Agbede’s appointment underscores her extensive expertise and leadership within the organization.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Lagos, a Masters of Business Administration from Cranfield University UK, and is affiliated with professional bodies including the Chartered Institute of Management UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria.
