The highly anticipated matchup will take place at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, where James and his new teammates will face the defending 2026 NBA champions, the New York Knicks.

The game marks a significant milestone for the four-time NBA champion, who is entering his record-extending 24th season in the league.

James announced in July that he would join the Philadelphia 76ers after spending eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, bringing an end to his tenure with one of basketball’s most celebrated franchises.

His arrival in Philadelphia has generated considerable excitement among basketball fans, with expectations high for how the veteran superstar will contribute to the team’s championship ambitions.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver praised James’ remarkable longevity and continued ability to compete at the highest level.

Speaking to ABC News on Monday, Silver described the basketball icon’s sustained excellence as a reflection of his extraordinary dedication to the sport.

Silver said James’ ability to perform at such a high level in his 24th NBA season was a “testament to his work ethic.”

The commissioner also expressed enthusiasm about the veteran star joining Philadelphia’s roster.

“It’s a great lineup that he’ll be joining in Philadelphia,” Silver said.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing that team. There’s so much anticipation around the league this year for just a lot of great competition,” he added.

Tuesday’s matchup promises to be a major attraction as the 76ers begin their new era with James against a Knicks team seeking to defend its championship title.

For James, the occasion represents another remarkable milestone in a career defined by longevity, consistency and historic achievements.

With the spotlight firmly on Madison Square Garden, basketball fans will be watching closely to see how the NBA legend performs in his first official regular-season appearance wearing a Philadelphia 76ers jersey.
