Israel Arrests 10 Suspected Settler Extremists Following Violent Attacks in West Bank

Israeli authorities have arrested 10 suspected settler extremists following a series of violent attacks against Palestinians, foreign diplomats and a photojournalist in the occupied West Bank.

The arrests, announced Monday morning, come amid mounting international pressure on Israel to take stronger action against settler violence following the weekend incidents.

Israeli police said the suspects were detained during coordinated dawn raids at several locations across the central West Bank.

The operation, code-named “Olive Leaf,” involved dozens of police officers working alongside Israel’s Shin Bet domestic security agency, with support from the Israel Defense Forces.

According to police, investigators recovered evidence allegedly connecting the suspects to the violent incidents and confiscated several vehicles.

“Evidence linking them to the alleged acts was found in their possession, and several vehicles were seized,” police said in a statement.

The suspects are being investigated over their alleged involvement in the weekend attacks, violations of a closed military zone order and illegal construction activities.

The military restrictions were issued by the head of the IDF’s Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth.

Settler activists reported that one of the locations targeted during the operation was an unauthorized agricultural outpost near the Israeli settlement of Ofra.

Additional raids reportedly took place at several outposts near the Shiloh settlement, approximately 15 kilometers, or 9.3 miles, north of Ofra.

The police operation follows growing international criticism over attacks involving extremist settlers in the West Bank, particularly during the Palestinian olive harvest season.

The annual harvest is an important source of income for many Palestinian families, but it has also been a period of heightened tensions and confrontations in some areas.

Despite Monday’s arrests, fresh incidents of suspected settler violence were reported, raising concerns about the effectiveness of efforts to prevent further attacks.

The weekend violence, which reportedly targeted Palestinian residents, foreign diplomatic representatives and a photojournalist, intensified calls for accountability and stronger enforcement measures.

Israeli authorities said the 10 individuals were detained on suspicion of involvement in the incidents, but no convictions have been announced.

The coordinated raids represent a significant law enforcement response as Israeli officials face increasing scrutiny over security conditions in the occupied territory.

Investigations into the attacks remain ongoing, while authorities have yet to provide further details about possible charges against the suspects or the newly reported incidents.
