The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will on November 13 host the maiden edition of the Digital Awareness and Sensitization Fora, a new platform designed to strengthen policy, innovation, and infrastructure toward building an inclusive digital future for Nigeria.
The forum, with the theme “Leaving No One Behind: Digital Assets, Equity, and Empowerment,” will bring together industry experts, policymakers, and community stakeholders to develop practical strategies for closing Nigeria’s digital divide.
Key sessions will focus on developing inclusive digital policies, expanding accessible infrastructure, promoting adaptive digital literacy programmes, and advancing affordability and universal access to digital services.
With Africa’s youth accounting for 60% of the continent’s population a large share of whom are Nigerians the NCC said the initiative seeks to unlock the demographic’s potential while ensuring that no group is excluded from emerging digital opportunities.
The Commission noted that, beyond safeguarding over 140 million Internet users, the sensitisation series will emphasise the importance of broad participation in Nigeria’s digital economy. Stakeholders from regulatory agencies, academia, the private sector, and development organisations will explore how digital access can empower underserved communities and contribute to national development.
The fora are being organised in partnership with several organisations, including the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), ATCON, FintechNGR, KOICA, Terra Industries, Association of Nigerian Inventors (ANI), Secondary Education Board (SEB), NUC, JONWAD, Imose Technologies, and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The event will feature panel discussions, innovation exhibitions by tech firms, fintech companies, and students, showcasing creativity across Nigeria’s growing digital ecosystem.
The forum will be livestreamed nationwide via scf.ncc.gov.ng.
