The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has attributed the wave of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidation and coercion, rather than genuine ideological differences.
Speaking on Thursday during Channels Television’s Politics Today, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, claimed that 80 to 90 per cent of recent defections were not based on principles or policies.
“Facts are facts. The alternative fact cannot be the reality. Look at Osun State the APC keeps saying, ‘Join us or we will stress you.’ This intimidation is happening across the federation in different states,” Ologunagba said.
He also addressed speculations surrounding former President Goodluck Jonathan’s political affiliation, stressing that Jonathan remains a member of the PDP.
“Goodluck Jonathan is still a member of the PDP. He has not resigned. There are only two ways to leave a party either you resign or you are removed. Till date, Jonathan has done neither. We expect him to be at the PDP convention coming up in Ibadan, Oyo State,” he stated.
